What Are Stormproof Casement Windows?
Stormproof casement windows are also known as lipped casements, as the lip prevents the window from going further into the frame as with a flush one. Stormproof casement windows replicate the style of one of Britain’s most common designs of casement windows but are known for their weather protection against the extreme elements which we often face over here. These wooden casement windows are outward opening with the sash overlapping the frame. This simple yet effective design adds extra protection against unpredictable and wetter weather conditions, hence the name ‘stormproof’. The ‘easy-clean’ hinges allow the sash to open to a 90° angle, but also with a sliding function so that easy cleaning of the outer pane is possible. Additionally, this type of window may be equipped with fire escape hinges in order to be utilised as an emergency exit.
